Leave the Leaves - Zoom meeting
This fall, it couldn't be easier to support pollinators, provide overwinter shelter for wildlife, nurture the soil, improve water retention, and drawdown carbon. Just leave the leaves!

A Community Q&A about Eco-gardening Practices
Ask our eco-gardening experts and fellow eco-gardeners all of your burning questions, and be in community with others who care deeply about the Earth, her creatures and the climate crisis.
Have you fallen in love with creating a native habitat garden? Have you converted your entire lawn or a small patch or are you just considering some changes? Have you tried sheet mulching, leaving the leaves, building windrows and limiting fall clean up to give forage to the birds and insects? Are you passionate about biodiversity and planting for birds, bees, butterflies and moths?
Why should I leave the leaves?
-
Leaves harbor and sustain beneficial insects, which in turn sustain birds and other critters.
-
Leaves protect and nurture the soil and the plants that grow there.
-
Leaving leaves means using less fossil fuels – an essential response to the climate crisis.
-
Leaves are beautiful

LINCOLN LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Let us honor the Massachusett and Pawtucket Indigenous Peoples whose land we now call Lincoln, Massachusetts. They continue to live and thrive on the land that was forcibly taken from the countless leaders, communities, and elders who were here long before any settlers arrived. Let us honor the enslaved people who built the wealth and foundation of Lincoln and whose stories are just coming to light. Let us honor the land we now call Lincoln by taking care of it and not harming it, valuing the indigenous knowledge of regenerative practices and living in right relationship with the earth. This land acknowledgement is the first step of many towards reconciliation and positive change.
